The Grassroots house is a holiday retreat that exudes a soft and modest atmosphere, achieved through the use of wood and beige/grey marble. The living room features a wooden floor and warm-colored furniture, giving it a minimalistic and sedate oriental quality. The dining room, with its grille ceiling, irregular lighting, and plain wood dining table, paired with modern dining chairs, adds a touch of modernity to the space.
One of the standout features of the Grassroots house is the black iron sliding doors that separate the study room from the rest of the house. When closed, these doors can serve as a guest room, providing privacy and functionality. When opened, they transform into a lounge area, seamlessly integrating with the rest of the living space.
The design team aimed to extend the occupants' spiritual life through creativity and inner desire, breaking free from traditional symbols and limitations. By guiding the occupants through different levels of emotional boundaries, the Grassroots house creates a personal and memorable living experience.
The Grassroots house spans an indoor area of 120 square meters and was completed in August 2014 in Taipei, Taiwan. It is a testament to the designers' commitment to showcasing the beauty of minimalist design and the essence of Taiwan's humanistic style.
This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2016. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills while contributing to the improvement of quality of life.
